i’ve been reading a few good interviews with andrew wyeth… done quite long ago… and while i was searching for an explanation on his painting technique… he gave much more than that… he explained how he feels when something inspires him to paint… something that whispers in the night and you can’t sleep… or a thought that just travels with you all the day long… he then would sketch a thumbnail and then do detail pencil drawings of every spot on a landscape painting the trees the house… for reference… no photos… good stuff… since i am enjoying my box of sennelier egg tempera paints… i turned to an old book i had by robert vickery who explains a much more detailed approach to the tempera technique and a much more relaxed approach to how the ideas and metaphors appear on his panels… so i’ve just been doing what is probably very boring to most… saturating myself with articles and books of artists explaining their inspiration and technique as a rule i wouldn’t go on about it… but cal said i haven’t written anything in so long… well to put it shortly… it’s because i’ve been painting!artist’s view…
